Arthritis is a life altering illness that is debilitating for both men and women. Alfalfa is used as a arthritis remedy because the alfalfa tea can lessen the symptoms of arthritis. Normal dosage for alfalfa tea as an arthritis remedy is one cup a day for two or three weeks, followed by a seven or ten day break.

Angelica is another herb used as a herbal arthritis remedy because it contains high amounts of anti inflammatory chemicals and Angelica also contains muscle relaxants and natural pain relievers. Angelica is made into a tea concoction and is dosed and used the same amount as Alfalfa when it comes to using Angelica for an arthritis remedy.

Black cohosh, is an American Indian herb that has been used as an arthritis remedy for years by the native american indians to help relieve the symptoms of arthritis. Black Cohosh has some of the same ingredients found in Aspirin and these ingredients have anti inflammatory and anti spasm properties.

Boswellia, is another herbal remedy for arthritis, Boswellia is very similar to most over the counter or prescription non steroid anti inflammatory drugs. Boswellia is better than synthetic prescription drugs, mainly because it does not give the user ulcers after.

Celery is another plant that has been used as a herbal remedy for arthritis. The celery seeds and other portions of the celery plant contain over 25 anti inflammatory compounds, and Celery also provides large amounts of potassium. Potassium found in celery is important for arthritis sufferers because a deficiency in potassium has been linked to arthritic pain.

If the above arthritis remedies don't work for you or you don't like them then give Devil’s claw or even Epsom salt a try. Both Devil's claw and Epsom salts have anti inflammatory properties and will help get rid of swelling and pain, both of which are symptoms that are aggravating to arthritis sufferers.

There are many other possible herbal remedies for arthritis and its symptoms, such as feverfew, ginger, American ginseng, hop tea, licorice, mustard plaster, oregano, pineapple, red pepper, rosemary, sesame seeds, stinging nettle, turmeric, wild cucumber bark, wild yam, willow, wintergreen, and yucca.

The majority of the herbs mentioned in this article are used topically, because the minerals contained within these herbs are absorbed into the skin, while others are ingested internally for maximum benefits. It is strongly recommended that you talk with your doctor before starting any herbal treatment as there could be possible health concerns for certain people with these herbs.
