History of Black Cohosh
The name of this herb originates from the Algonquin word cohosh which means “knobby, rough roots.” The native American women relied on black cohosh for women issues such as pms etc. In the early 1800s healers believed that this herb was a panacea and could help with everything from smallpox to snakebit.
Black Cohosh Remedy
Black Cohosh contains estrogenic sterols, glycosides and many more micronutrients. The estrogenic sterols in this herb minic the effects of estrogen within the body, they do not have as strong of an effect as natural estrogen but they still produce mild estrogen effects in the body when ingeted. Black Cohosh is actually considered by the German governement as an effective treatment for PMS, painful mentruation and problems associated with menopause. There are even some studies that indicate that Black Cohosh can be as effective as hormone replacement therapy for relieving hot flashes and other symptoms of menopause.

This herb can be taken in capsule form or in a tincture.

it is not recommended to take Black Cohosh for more than six months, and do not use this herb if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant.
