Natural Remedies for Hot Flashes

Women who suffer from hot flashes because of menopause or perimenopause, finding a cure of solution to ease the symptoms is often a long process but one of high importance. Even with all of the synthetic drug treatments on the market today, none of them even compare to natural herbal treatments that have been verified by the fact they have been used for centuries by women in the know.
Hot flashes, result in increased heat and flushing in the face, and are very common in women at menopausal age. Some women are stricken with severe symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes. Many women are finding relief from the symptoms of menopause in the form of natural herbs, these herbs help eliminate the stress and symptoms that accompanies the problem.
While hormone therapy is still the main form of treatment used by many women, other women prefer the natural route such as some of the remedies mentioned in this article. Taking doses of Vitamin E and Vitamin B together is said to aid in easing the symptoms. Flaxseed, also called linseed, is used in whole seed and oil form to help reduce hot flash symptoms. There are still no scientific studies to support this claim, however women have been using it successfully for years and anecdotal evidence suggest it works.
Evening primrose oil is another herb that is commonly used to help relieve hot flashes during menopause. However, this herb does have potential side effects such as diarrhea and nausea. It is important to consult with your doctor before combining evening primrose with any other drugs, especially drugs such as blood thinning drugs, because it could cause adverse side effects.
Soy products contain high amounts of plant estrogen, which is found in isoflavones. These plant estrogens found in soy produce mild estrogen effects in the body, and because of this it tends to weaken hot flash symptoms. It is recommended to use soy based food products to treat hot flashes, and to avoid soy supplements.
Another good herbal remedy for hot flashes as a result of menopause and perimenopause is black cohosh. This herb when used for a short term herbal remedy, it works very well. Black cohosh can cause side effects which include upset stomach, so it needs to be taken carefully.
With the controversy that is in the news lately about hormone replacement therapy and its possible link to breast cancer, it is very important that women find natural remedies they trust and can use to treat the symptoms associated with menopause.
